While Kevin Sheedy has been dubbed the Father of the GIANTS over, Paula Strother has earned the right to be called the Mother of the GIANTS due to her commitment to the club.

Her fanaticism since day one in 2012 has seen her travel all over the country to watch the GIANTS with her son Stephen.

When the club notched up 150 games last season, it was also a milestone for the family from Douglas Park in south-west Sydney.

The pair have notched over 200,000km (with Virgin Australia of course) and have not missed a GIANTS game.

But unplanned hip surgery last weekend meant Paula was unable to travel to Perth with her beloved GIANTS, instead watching the game from her hospital bed.

When word got out that one of the club’s most loyal supporters couldn’t make the trip west, all parties jumped in to help where they could.

Injured duo Toby Greene and Josh Kelly recorded a video message for her, members of the cheer squad delivered orange flowers and balloons and an enormous cut out of Paula (you probably saw it behind the goals on the TV coverage) was made in Perth so she was still with her “boys.”

While Paula got emotional on receiving all this attention, she’s reportedly recovering well and is looking forward to the big game against Richmond this Saturday at GIANTS Stadium.

The club needs the Orange Army to rally this weekend in support of Paula and the GIANTS - make sure you’re at GIANTS Stadium this Saturday with the match getting underway at 4.35pm.
