GIANTS winger Meghan Gaffney is facing another stint on the sidelines after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament during the club’s final game of the AFLW season against Port Adelaide last weekend.

Gaffney twisted her leg awkwardly while in a contest in the third quarter of Sunday’s game at Alberton Oval.

Gaffney was then assisted from the field, with scans revealing the unfortunate news of an ACL injury for the Tasmanian.

This is the second time in less than 24 months that Gaffney has been dealt the cruel injury blow, with the 21-year-old only returning to the field ahead of the 2024 season after completing her recovery from an ACL injury suffered on her opposite knee on the eve of the 2023 season.

Drafted by the GIANTS out of Tasmania with pick 66 in the 2022 AFLW Draft, Gaffney has played 16 games for the GIANTS, including nine of the GIANTS’ 10 games this season.
