The GIANTS have secured a third first-round selection in the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft, as they farewell Isaac Cumming who has officially joined the Adelaide Crows.
The 26-year-old informed the club he would exercise his free agency rights at the completion of the GIANTS’ 2024 season and today joins the Adelaide Crows.
The GIANTS have obtained their third first-round draft pick at the upcoming 2024 Telstra AFL Draft as compensation for the unrestricted free agent.
The club currently holds pick 15, 16, 21, 34, 49, 52 and 70 ahead of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade period beginning on Monday.
The Broken Hill product arrived at the GIANTS via pick 20 in the 2016 draft and went on to play 81 games in the orange and charcoal over eight seasons.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said:
"You never like to see good people leave the club, but that’s the nature of the industry,” McCartney said.
“We believe we tabled a suitable offer to retain Isaac long-term but accept his decision and wish him and his fiancée Mia all the best as they move closer to family.
“The compensation of a third first-round selection for Isaac’s departure further bolsters our capital to work with this off-season and we believe we’re in a really good position heading into the trade and draft period.”
