Talented teen, Kaitlyn Srhoj has been named the AFLW Telstra Rising Star for round three.

The 19-year-old has wasted little time impressing, earning the Rising Star nomination in just her third game of AFLW.

The versatile midfielder was busy in the GIANTS’ hard-fought draw with the Suns on Sunday, recording 20 disposals, six tackles and four clearances.

With her athletic attributes and competitive nature on full display, the young gun impressed with her ferocious attack on the footy and her physical pressure on the opposition.

A prized recruit for the GIANTS in the off-season, Srhoj joined the club via pick three in the 2023 NAB AFLW draft from Western Australia.

Hailing from Mandurah just south of Perth, the 19-year-old has fit in seamlessly at the GIANTS, earning an immediate debut in the season opener and already a consistent performer in Cam Bernasconi’s line up.

The 19-year-old is averaging 14.7 disposals, 5.7 tackles, 3.7 clearances and 64.7 AFLW Fantasy points from her three games this season.

GIANTS head coach Cam Bernasconi said the Rising Star nomination was a well-deserved recognition for the young star.

“Srhoj has been super impressive and hard working since arriving at the club. We knew she was a talented player – which is why we picked her – so we’re super stoked to see her be rewarded with this so early in the season.

“She’s got some fantastic traits and is naturally talented, but she’s also very invested in improving her game and tapping into the resources around her.

“I guess what excites me the most is she is only just getting started. If this is what we are seeing from her after just three games, it’s scary to think of the player she is going to become in the future.”

Srhoj recently signed a three-year contract extension to tie her to the club until at least the end of the 2027 AFLW season.
