Star forward Jeremy Cameron has been referred directly to the Tribunal for engaging in rough conduct in Sunday’s NAB Challenge match against Brisbane.
The 22-year-old was reported in the third quarter after making high contact with Lion Rhys Mathieson after he had disposed of the ball.
Mathieson did not take any further part in the game and scans revealed a fractured right cheekbone.
The Match Review Panel said: “Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Brisbane Lions Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with severe impact to the head.
"The incident was classified as a direct referral to the Tribunal and an early plea is not available to the player."
Cameron went on to kick four goals in the GIANTS’ 39-point win over the Lions.
Cameron will front the Tribunal on Tuesday night with full coverage on Facebook, Twitter and gwsgiants.com.au.
