The GIANTS are proud to continue their partnership with EB Research Partnership (EBRP), dedicating the final home game of the season at ENGIE Stadium to raise crucial funds for those battling Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

As a charity partner of the GIANTS, EBRP is thrilled to align their match day with Members Round, honouring and celebrating the support of valued GIANTS members while celebrating the courage of those battling EB, and all rare diseases, worldwide.

“We are proud to partner with EBRP,” said GIANTS CEO David Matthews. “This Members Round, we are thrilled to highlight our partnership and the fantastic initiatives we’ve achieved together this year, as well as continue to support the critical, life-saving work made possible by EB Research Partnership.”

Founded in 2010 by Jill and Eddie Vedder alongside a group of dedicated parents, EBRP is the largest global organisation dedicated to funding research to treat and cure EB. This life-threatening genetic skin disorder affects children from birth, causing blisters, severe pain, and wounds that may never heal. EBRP’s mission is to cure EB by 2030 and scale their Venture Philanthropy business model that can impact thousands of other rare diseases.

Throughout the week leading up to the game, the GIANTS and EBRP have worked alongside Sydney Children’s Hospital to involve EB families and leading clinicians in game-day activities including the coin toss, junior mascot and guard of honour.

Throughout the match, and the week leading up to the game, there will be a variety of ways to learn more about EB and give back to those affected by this devastating disease.

GIANTS fans and EBRP supporters are invited to purchase a limited quantity of EB match day tickets to support the cause and meet some of the EB community alongside a premium game day experience. They will also have the chance to win tickets to Pearl Jam’s November concert at ENGIE Stadium, a signed Eddie Vedder poster, signed GIANTS memorabilia and more with a special Spin to Win competition.

On Friday, August 16, GIANTS AFL players Isaac Cumming and Tom Green and AFLW player Cambridge McCormick, will visit Sydney Children’s Hospital to meet with children affected by EB. Media will have the opportunity to speak with the ambassadors during this visit.

At half-time on Saturday afternoon, all attendees will be invited to participate in the #StandUpforEB initiative. By standing together, we can demonstrate our collective support and solidarity for those battling EB, showcasing how community actions, both big and small, can drive GIANT change.

EBRP CEO Michael Hund expressed his gratitude for the GIANTS’ unwavering support. “Children battling EB inspire us with their bravery, grit, and heroism. These are the same traits we see the GIANTS players bring to each game. Our mission is to cure EB by 2030, and we are honoured to have the GIANTS join us in this fight.”

“EBRP funds the most promising research projects and clinical trials in the U.S., Canada, and here in Australia. Thanks to these efforts, we now have approved EB treatments and are on our way to a cure. We are so grateful to have partners like the GIANTS in Sydney to help us keep this incredible momentum going.” says EBRP Co-Founder and Chairwoman, Jill Vedder.
