Three of the club’s most promising youngsters and the long-awaited return of a popular veteran headline five changes for the GIANTS’ VFL clash with the Swans on Saturday.
Inaugural GIANT Adam Kennedy will feature in the VFL on Saturday in what will be the 31-year-old’s first game in almost 14 months after being kept out with an ACL injury suffered in April last year followed by a recent hamstring injury.
One of the most popular players at the club and a life member of the GIANTS, Saturday will end a streak of 427 days since Kennedy last took the field in a GIANTS jumper.
Former number one pick Aaron Cadman will join Kennedy against the Swans in Blacktown in what will be the 20-year-old’s first VFL game of the season. The talented key forward comes into the side having played in each of the GIANTS’ 13 AFL games so far this season where he’s kicked 17 majors.
Joining the pair on Saturday is speed machine Darcy Jones - who returns after four weeks out with a hamstring injury - as well as exciting draftee James Leake who will play his first game in GIANTS colours after overcoming a persistent quad injury.
Also in the side is 2024 VFL-listed newcomer Harper Montgomery, who returns to the team after nine weeks out with a fractured leg.
Making way from last week’s side is emerging forward Max Gruzewski who has been selected to make his AFL debut on Saturday, while James Peatling has earned an AFL recall after a match-winning performance in the VFL last week.
GIANTS Academy forward Riley Hamilton, as well as Ethan Williams and Billy Clarke, have been omitted.
Saturday’s VFL side will feature 13 AFL-listed GIANTS, as well as Academy duo Logan Smith and Josaia Delana.
After an impressive 14-point win over Port Melbourne last week, the GIANTS will be looking for a repeat performance as they host the Swans in Blacktown at 11:05am on Saturday.
