Explosive GIANTS forward Will Hoskin-Elliott has made an early, and impressive, return from injury for the UWS GIANTS.
Hoskin-Elliott finished with five goals in the club’s big win over the Sydney Swans in the NEAFL on Saturday.
The running machine hurt his right shoulder in the GIANTS’ final NAB Challenge game against the Swans last month, and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks of the season.
But a solid rehabilitation campaign had Hoskin-Elliott back on the park one day before the four-week mark, and he's hopeful of a quick return to senior football.
"I think I'm ready, but a couple more games to get the match fitness up is probably what I need to get back in the ones," Hoskin-Elliott told AFL.com.au.
"The shoulder pulled up fine, a couple of big knocks and got through them so that was the main thing. To kick five is a good return and I'm glad the boys won."
Pick No.4 in the 2011 NAB AFL draft, Hoskin-Elliott played 20 games last season in a variety of roles and kicked 26 goals for the GIANTS, second only to star forward Jeremy Cameron's 29.
The 21-year-old is a key ball carrier for GWS when fit and said while coach Leon Cameron was happy to see him back on the field, he made no promises about a call-up.
"He's rapt that I'm back early as well, but he just said go out there and do the little things well and the rest will come," Hoskin-Elliott said.
