Scans have confirmed that GIANTS defender Adam Kennedy will miss the rest of the season due to a ruptured ACL.
Kennedy landed awkwardly in a marking contest in the first term of Friday night’s match against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
The GIANTS medical staff will now consult with specialists to determine the best course of action for the 24-year old.
GIANTS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce said: “This is devastating news for Adam who’d started the season very strongly.
“We’re confident that Adam will approach his rehabilitation with the same diligence and energy that he does every other aspect of his football.
“He’s a really popular member of the playing group and the whole club is right behind him.”
In further injury news, young midfielder Jacob Hopper will be sidelined due to a broken finger also suffered in Friday night’s match.
The 20-year old will undergo surgery in the coming days with an accurate timeline for his return expected after the operation.
