James Peatling is hoping to put his hand up for selection this week as the AFL team prepares to take on Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval this Saturday night.
The in-form forward was averaging three goals a game over his last three games, before going down with a low-grade hamstring strain in round 14 against the Bulldogs.
Peatling will undergo a fitness test later this week in a bid to return to the field this weekend.
Leek Aleer and Cameron Fleeton are also tests, with Aleer returning to full training this week following a calf strain in round 11.
Fleeton injured both his knee and ankle in the GIANTS’ VFL win over Box Hill on Sunday afternoon.
Scans revealed only minor damage with the second-year GIANT still a chance to play this weekend.
Matt de Boer remains unavailable for selection with concussion symptoms.
GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said:
"We'll consult with specialists as Matt continues to follow AFL concussion protocols. His health and wellbeing are the priority for us."
Ryan Angwin, Jack Buckley, Finn Callaghan, Brent Daniels, Conor Stone and Harry Perryman are continuing their rehab from longer-term injuries.
