The GIANTS have made three changes to their side for Saturday’s blockbuster clash against the Bulldogs at GIANTS Stadium.
As confirmed on Thursday evening, 19-year-old Ryan Angwin will make his AFL debut after an impressive last month at VFL level.
Drafted with pick 18 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft, the 19-year-old will become the GIANTS’ fourth debutant of the season.
Angwin is a left-footed midfielder with silky skills and a high footy IQ. He’s played a variety of roles at the VFL level as both a wingman and more recently, an inside-midfielder.
Also into the side this week is All-Australian defender Nick Haynes and ruck Braydon Preuss, who both impressed in the GIANTS’ VFL win over North Melbourne in Blacktown last weekend.
Haynes and Preuss have both been struck down with illness over the past month and made their returns via the VFL.
Out of the side is Harry Perryman (ribs) and midfielder Matt de Boer (concussion) while Zach Sproule has been omitted.
Former captain Phil Davis will return via the VFL on Sunday morning when the GIANTS face the Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium, after recovering from a hamstring tendon injury that has sidelined the defender since March.
Midfielder Tim Taranto is also set to play a half on Sunday after missing the past month due to an ongoing back injury.
The GIANTS take on the Western Bulldogs at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday night at 7:25pm.
