The cross-town rivalry between the GIANTS and the Swans will soon enter the AFLW competition, with a taste of what’s to come set to play out this weekend in the opening round of the 2022 AFL NSW/ACT Summer Series.

120 of the best footballers from NSW and ACT will compete in the first round of the series this Saturday, two teams representing the GIANTS (Orange and Charcoal) and two representing the Swans.

The inaugural competition will provide an opportunity for the up-and-coming local talent from NSW and ACT to impress selectors ahead of the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft, whilst also providing a competitive environment for the non-selected GIANTS players to participate in during the AFLW season.

GIANTS Charcoal will be coached by former GIANT Britt Tully and is made of players from the ACT and Southern NSW catchment.

GIANTS Orange will be coached by Manly Wolves coach Baker Dennerman and consists of talent from the Western Sydney region.

This week’s games will be played at Tom Wills Oval at Sydney Olympic Park and entry to the matches are free.
