New GWS co-captain Josh Kelly says he sees NFL legend Tom Brady as an inspirational figure, praising his longevity and elite standards at the top of his chosen sport.

Kelly has recently been made Giants co-captain alongside Toby Greene and Stephen Coniglio, after the club opted to name three captains for 2022.

The 26-year-old said he looks up to a player like Brady, who has won seven Super Bowls to become one of the greatest NFL players of all time.

“I take a bit of a fascination with Tom Brady in particular,” he said on Sportsday.

“He’s been able to do it over such a long period of time and I think he’s implemented a lot of steps to get to that stage.

“I’m always interested in learning from other athletes and how they get themselves into certain position and for him that’s his performance and longevity.

“He’s just one athlete I look at…and I’m sure a lot of players in the league do that (too). You can learn from those guys and they’re the best for a reason.

“Taking little tips along the way can only help.”

Kelly is one of GWS’ most important players and is coming off the back of a successful 2021 campaign, where he played 23 matches to average just over 26 disposals.
