Following the recent announcement of the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership fixture, it’s all systems go at GIANTS HQ with new jumper numbers revealed for six GIANTS this week.    

Draftees Finn Callaghan, Leek Aleer, Josh Fahey and Cooper Hamilton, along with new recruit Jarrod Brander and mid-season rookie draftee James Peatling, all received their new numbers as the team finalises their pre-season preparations before the Christmas break.

Exciting young prospect Finn Callaghan, who was selected by the GIANTS at pick three in the most recent NAB AFL Draft, will begin his GIANTS career in jumper number 17.  
 
The number was most recently worn by Zac Langdon and has been previously worn by GIANTS favourite and current Assistant Coach Steve Johnson as well as inaugural GIANT Adam Treloar. 

James Peating - who was picked up in the mid-season rookie draft in 2021 - will make the switch over to number 20 after four games in number 45 in season 2021.

Leek Aleer will pull on jumper number 21, vacated by Matt Buntine who recently wrapped up more than 10 years and 67 games in the orange and charcoal.    

After wearing number 10 at the West Coast Eagles, new forward Jarrod Brander will take over jumper number 31 – worn by inaugural GIANT Jacob Townsend and most recently by Jeremy Finlayson, who made the move to Port Adelaide in the off-season.  

Academy product and Canberra local Josh Fahey will take over the number 34 – it was previously worn by Nick Shipley, Caleb Marchbank, Devon Smith and Kristian Jaksch – who remains involved with the club as part of the past players’ association.

Rookie draftee Cooper Hamilton, the winner of the Club's recent pre-season 2k time trial picks up number 43. It was worn by Kurt Aylett, Jake Barrett and most recently Dylan Buckley. 

James Peating - who was picked up in the mid-season rookie draft in 2021 - will make the switch over to number 20 after four games in number 45 in season 2021.

The number 20 jumper was worn by inaugural GIANT Adam Tomlinson for eight years before Tom Hutchesson took over the number over the past two seasons.

The GIANTS will finish up their last week of pre-season training before the Christmas break on Friday, ready to return for a Big Big 2022 on January 10.
