It's the end of a very long road for the GIANTS, with a defeat at the hands of a resurgent Geelong outfit spelling the end of the club's finals campaign.

The Cats were on top from the start, controlling play and keeping the GIANTS goalless in the opening term to lay the foundations for the 15.13 (103) to 10.8 (68) win.

Jeremy Cameron drew first blood against his old side, booting the Cats' first goal after an early stalemate.

With key spearhead Jesse Hogan a late out, the GIANTS' forward line took a while to get firing, with GIANTS' first goal coming in the second quarter.

The GIANTS managed to work their way into the game but the Cats were up for the fight, taking a 15-point lead into the main break.

SF: Hill Showcases his flair with classy finish

Bobby Hill's running finish has given his side an ideal start to the second half.

A sensational goal from Bobby Hill got the GIANTS off to a perfect start in the third quarter, but it proved to be short-lived as the Cats kicked five goals to take a 32-point lead into the final break.

The GIANTS staged a late comeback with a flurry of goals in the final term but it was too little too late as the Cats bit back.

Tom Hawkins starred for Geelong with five goals, while Sam Menegola booted two goals to go with his 29 touches.

Defender Zach Tuohy excelled in his return from injury, racking up 31 disposals and providing the Cats' backline with some much-needed structure.
