Taken by the GIANTS with pick 44 in the 2023 AFL Draft, Fonti is a medium dashing defender who flourished in the WAFL after being moved from the midfield to defence in 2023. Fonti burst onto the AFL scene with a brilliant debut in round 17, 2024 in a thrilling win over the Blues at ENGIE Stadium. He went on to finish his debut season with five games of AFL experience, with his poise and silky skills proving he’s got an exciting future in orange and charcoal. He was picked up by the GIANTS following a series of impressive performances for Claremont as well as Western Australia’s state side where his intercept marking and dash from defence stood out. A great athlete for his size, Fonti’s 20m sprint time of 2.88 seconds ranked him first among all players at the three State Draft Combines, while his 7.97 second agility test time placed him second overall.
