Last year Treloar averaged 24 possessions in 20 games to finish fifth in the GIANTS’ Club Champion.
This year he stepped up and finished equal 10th in the league for average disposals (27.6), amassing more than 20 touches in all of the 20 games he played
Prior to the season beginning, AFL great Dermott Brereton foreshadowed Treloar’s continuing rise to becoming an elite midfielder of the competition.
"I believe Adam Treloar can be the absolute elite player in the midfield and be top five in the comp with his ability, with his skill set and with his want and desire for the game," Brereton said in January.
"He's a very rare breed. Not too many guys with his pace are inside players.
"They normally tend to be on the outside.
"But he has enormous pace, enormous courage and seeks out body contact, which is an absolute rare blend.
"He has the makings of being something extraordinary."
Treloar notched up his 50th game against Carlton in Round 14 and had some standout performances this year including more than 30 touches on five separate occasions.
He had 33 touches, 14 tackles and a goal against Melbourne in Round 3 and also kicked 13 goals for the year, including three against Essendon in Round 12.
His work around stoppages was also exceptional, finishing the season with 117 clearances (17th in the AFL). Treloar finished fourth in the Kevin Sheedy Medal and also took home the Members and Fans Most Valuable Player Award.
