Veteran Sam Reid has suffered a low-grade hamstring injury in Saturday’s thrilling Sydney Derby win.

Reid was subbed out of the game in the third quarter but scans have revealed relatively good news.

GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:

“Reidy has unfortunately injured his hamstring in his return from suspension but it is on the minor side,” Ball said.

“We’d expect him to miss just one or maybe two weeks with it.”

Draftee Cameron Fleeton and defender Jake Stein both picked up injuries in the VFL match on Saturday.

Fleeton suffered a concussion in the second quarter and took no further part in the game. He’ll now go through the standard 12-day concussion protocols and be unavailable for selection this week.

Stein hurt his thumb in the same game which will sideline him for six-to-eight weeks.

“Steiny played out the game but unfortunately subsequent scans on his thumb revealed a fairly major injury,” Ball said.

“He’ll see a surgeon today which will determine how long he will be sidelined for but we’d expect it to be in that six-to-eight week range.”

Important defender Harry Perryman is expected to be available to take on the Western Bulldogs in Canberra on Friday night after recovering from glandular fever.

“Harry has steadily improved over the past few weeks,” Ball said.

“He’ll train on Wednesday and will need to get through that well but we expect him to put his hand up to play.”

The GIANTS take on the Bulldogs at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Friday night with the VFL side taking on Footscray at Blacktown International Sportspark on Thursday evening.
