Summary: It was a career-best season for defender Heath Shaw who was rewarded with All Australian selection for the first time and also won his inaugural GIANTS’ Club Champion Award. Shaw played every match and was a pillar of strength across the backline. He amazingly led the AFL in total kicks, rebound-50s and bounces. Shaw also played a mentoring role for the GIANTS’ up and coming defenders. The vice-captain was a vocal leader and played a big role in developing his younger teammates. Shaw averaged 23.5 disposals per match and finally kicked his first goal for the club against Port Adelaide in Round 20.

Pat On The Back: Winning the Kevin Sheedy Medal and deemed the best GIANTS player of 2015 indicates how influential Shaw was this season.

What They Said: "I'm 29 years old and I'm probably playing the best footy of my life and I never thought I'd be in this position, but the guys that I've got around me make me better so I'm just rapt” - Heath Shaw.

Look Ahead: It will be hard for Heath Shaw to improve on his performance this season but consistency is key for the experienced defender. The GIANTS will hope Shaw can stay injury free and continue to produce such a high-quality output. His leadership is also something that will continue to inspire teammates.
