Forward Daniel Lloyd will miss 8-10 weeks with a torn quad tendon.
The mature-age recruit reported quad tightness following training on Saturday, with subsequent scans revealing a more serious injury.
GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:
“Daniel has suffered a quad tendon tear which will sideline him for the next two months.
“The tendon being involved means we need to build him back up slowly to ensure a full recovery.”
Tall forward Jake Riccardi will also be sidelined short-term after rolling his ankle.
“Jake’s suffered a fairly typical rolled ankle but he will miss a couple of weeks with it,” Ball said.
The GIANTS take on the Saints in round one at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday with the club to also take on the Swans in a Reserves practice match behind closed doors earlier in the day.
