Maddy Collier and Christina Bernardi have departed the GIANTS as part of the AFL Women’s Sign and Trade period.
Collier, who was the GIANTS’ first New South Wales signing in 2016, has opted to continue her career at West Coast, while Bernardi signed with expansion club Richmond.
23-year-old Collier played four games in the GIANTS’ 2019 campaign, for a total of 15 games across her three seasons.
“Maddy has played 15 of a possible 21 games over the three seasons at the GIANTS after coming onto our list in the first year,” GIANTS AFLW Head Coach Alan McConnell said.
“While we would have loved to have retained Maddy, and we're disappointed that we're losing someone from Sydney to an expansion club, we wish her all the best.”
Bernardi, who joined the GIANTS as a trade from Collingwood in 2018 and played all seven of the GIANTS’ games in 2019, has opted to return to Victoria to be closer to family.
“Christina has sought an opportunity elsewhere and we’ve appreciated the 12 months she spent as a GIANT. We wish her well for the 2020 season at Richmond," McConnell said.
The GIANTS will announce a number of key re-signings in the coming days which will put the club in a strong position ahead of the 2020 NAB AFL Women’s season.
