General Manger of Football Graeme Allan give NAB AFL Trade Radio an update on some potential player movements over the coming weeks.
GIANTS midfielder Adam Treloar is no certainty to go to Collingwood, with multiple clubs having enquired about him, General Manager of Football Graeme Allan says.
Treloar nominated the Magpies as the club he wants to play for next year, but Allan told NAB AFL Trade Radio that he may not make it there.
"There's a lot of clubs speaking to us about him. They should, he's a great player," Allan said.
Treloar's manager Peter Blucher has previously said Treloar would have re-signed with GWS if the GIANTS had put forward an offer he and Treloar considered reasonable.
However, Allan insisted the GIANTS’ contract offer was adequate.
"We put a very good offer on the table for Adam," he said.
"Unfortunately we couldn't come to terms."
Allan said even though Treloar had nominated the Magpies, that didn't mean he had control over his future.
"Peter also knows it's not free agency. People can nominate where they want to go (but that) doesn't mean they get there," he said.
Adam Tomlinson has been linked to Carlton but Allan said the tall forward, who is signed until 2017, was a required player.
"I don't know where those rumours have come from. (He) loves it up there and just bought a house in Balmain," Allan said.
"He's a really important part of our club."
Allan also indicated GWS was interested in Geelong ruckman Dawson Simpson. Shane Mumford is the GIANTS’ primary big man but he has struggled with injuries and has only played 28 games in his two years at the club.
"We've got interest in Dawson but we've got interest in a few senior ruckman," he said.
However, he ruled out West Coast's Callum Sinclair as an option.
In a wide-ranging interview, Allan also said:
- Forward Cam McCarthy would be staying at the GIANTS. McCarthy's manager Colin Young has said the 20-year-old is determined to return home to Western Australia but he still has two years remaining on his contract.
- Tom Bugg and Curtly Hampton were likely to leave, with the GIANTS under pressure to trim their list size.
- Carlton was in talks to acquire Lachie Plowman, Jed Lamb, Andrew Phillips and Liam Sumner. All four are contracted players.
