The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have declared the Prime Minister’s Cup, the club’s first home game in the ACT, a resounding success on the weekend.

With a home crowd of 9,128 and 263 members signed in the ACT in the past week, the GIANTS are quickly cementing themselves as Canberra’s home team.

The club at Saturday’s match sold over $22,000 in merchandise.

GIANTS CEO David Matthews said that the club was pleased with the results on and off the field on Saturday and was looking forward to returning to Manuka Oval to take on the Gold Coast SUNS in two week’s time.

“It was fantastic to see so much support in Canberra on the weekend, the crowd was largely orange and the atmosphere at the ground was fantastic.

“It was great to see our Prime Minister at the match for what will be an important event in the GIANTS’ fixture each year.

“We will be back in Canberra to play the Gold Coast SUNS in two weeks time when the best young AFL talent in the country will be on display. That will be an exciting thing to witness."

GIANTS’ three game memberships are still available for Canberra based supporters with the remaining two matches in the ACT and one SKODA match included in the package.

"At the moment we have 3,124 members in Canberra which is fantastic and I urge all GIANTS supporters in the ACT to sign up and join us on this exciting journey."
