The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS will play St Kilda in a practice match at Blacktown International Sportspark this Saturday in their final hit out before the start of the Toyota AFL Premiership season.

GIANTS Members can attend the match free and simply need to present their membership card at the gate. General admission will be $5 for adults and juniors under 15 will be admitted free. The match will start at 2pm.

A number of GIANTS players who missed last Friday’s final NAB Cup match against Essendon in Canberra, including Jeremy Cameron and Jonathan Giles, are in line to return to the side for this weekend’s match.

GIANTS midfielder Stephen Coniglio has said that while Friday’s performance against Essendon was disappointing, the young side was pleased with their overall results in the pre-season competition.

The GIANTS won their first ever match against the Swans and suffered two narrow defeats to NAB Cup grand finalists the Brisbane Lions and Carlton.  The practice match against St Kilda on Saturday will round out their pre-season campaign.
"Our performance Friday wasn't up to scratch but all-in-all there are some really positive signs heading in to the year. It's been great to see plenty of debutants out there in the NAB Cup," Coniglio said.

The 2012 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee said that the club enjoyed playing in front of the crowd at Manuka Oval and was honoured to be part of history in the first ever AFL game under lights in the Nation's Capital.

"The crowd was great and it was great to be a part of the 100 year celebrations in Canberra. I love playing in front of the Canberra crowd and not just the crowd but the whole community.

"We encourage people to get on board because hopefully we're heading to some exciting places," he said.
