Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has labeled Eddie McGuire’s comments regarding Adam Goodes and King Kong as “a silly statement.”

Sheedy, who has worked extensively with Indigenous people in his time as a coach says, it was a brain fade by the Collingwood President.

"The problem with Eddie, who is working in the press and being president of a club, you're in front of the press and the cameras and a microphone all the time,” said Sheedy.

"That's a problem in itself. In the end, it was just a silly statement.”

McGuire’s comments linking Goodes with promotion of King Kong come just five days after McGuire led the way in apologising to the dual Brownlow medalist following racial abuse directed at him from a Collingwood spectator.

"It doesn't matter whether it's politically correct or all of those sorts of things you put on the table, in the end I think this is a brain fade," said Sheedy.

"We should just keep re-educating our young people and Eddie just bumped up the average age, didn't he?

"We've got a great country, we've got 170 to 180 nationalities here, our own indigenous people are a beautiful people.”

"Goodesy is a person everybody loves and respects. That's the way I look at it.”
