The 21-year-old was one of the inaugural GIANTS as a 17-year-old priority selection in 2011. After six games in three seasons, Golds has extended his contract until the end of 2016.
“I’m really excited for what the future holds at the GIANTS so it’s terrific to get it done,” Golds said.
“I love Sydney, I love the club ... I’ve made some really close friends at the club so it was an easy decision for me.
“My goals are probably just to get a few more senior games at this stage and then to play some consistent footy at AFL level.”
Golds and midfielder Toby Greene both extended their contracts with the club this week, with Greene to remain a GIANT at least until the end of 2018.
They join the recent re-signings of Adam Tomlinson, Jon Patton, Nick Haynes, Josh Kelly, Adam Kennedy, Rory Lobb, James Stewart, Andrew Phillips, Cam McCarthy, Tom Downie and Jake Barrett.
Golds said the players can feel they are on the verge of success at the GIANTS.
“There’s some great people at the club, everyone recognises that and we all want to stick together for as long as possible and hopefully find some success in the next few years,” he said.
Speaking from the GIANTS’ pre-Christmas training camp on the Sunshine Coast, Golds said the week away training in the heat was good for the players’ physical and mental preparation for the season ahead.
“It’s nice and hot, I think the mercury got to 37 or something so it's pretty hot out there but it’s been good,” he said.
“I’m up here with some of my close mates that I’ve made at the GIANTS, so what more could you want.
“I think the bonding that you get ... We spend a lot of time together in Sydney but I think up here you eat dinner together most nights, we really get to know each other really well and I think it’s really beneficial in that sense.”
