The GIANTS will wear a special commemorative ANZAC Day jumper in Saturday's historic match against the Gold Coast Suns at StarTrack Oval, Canberra.

The 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli will be the first time the GIANTS play on ANZAC Day with the club’s inaugural jumper to honour the ANZACs unveiled last month.

The design includes an image of a World War I digger within Canberra's iconic Black Mountain Tower which features on the GIANTS’ ACT jumper.

It's the same image of a digger wearing a slouch hat and holding a rifle that is featured in a statue on Sydney's ANZAC Bridge, which connects Western Sydney to the city.

The ANZAC Bridge is significant to the GIANTS, with the club playing against cross-town rivals, the Swans, in the Battle of the Bridge twice a year.

The jumper will include the ANZAC Appeal logo on the top left chest and a charcoal camouflage design has been incorporated in the bottom half of the GIANTS' jumper.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the GIANTS are honoured to be playing on the centenary of one of Australia and New Zealand’s most important days.

“We think the design of our ANZAC jumper is fantastic and our players are looking forward to wearing it on such a significant occasion,” Matthews said.

“The nation’s capital has a strong connection to our proud military history through the Australian War Memorial and we believe this will be a great event for Canberra.

“To be able to play on ANZAC Day against the Gold Coast Suns, who we are building a great rivalry against, under lights at StarTrack Oval promises to be a great spectacle," he said.

Limited ANZAC Day jumpers are still available for pre-order via shop.gwsgiants.com.au while there will be minimal stock at the merchandise van on ANZAC Day at StarTrack Oval, Canberra. A portion of the proceeds of the jumper sales go to the RSL.

The GIANTS' community partner Soldier On will also be involved with a number of activities on ANZAC Day to support Australian servicemen and women wounded while serving their country.

The GIANTS play the Gold Coast Suns at StarTrack Oval, Canberra on Saturday April 25 at 5.40pm. Tickets are available through Ticketek.
