The Prime Minister’s Cup between the GIANTS and the Western Bulldogs at Star Track Oval Canberra on July 6 will celebrate the achievements of the men and women who have helped build Australia.

GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy today launched the Building Australia Tribute game at Parliament House in Canberra with some of the men and women who constructed the iconic building.

Supported by Cbus, the superannuation fund for Australian’s working in the construction, building and allied industries, the match marks its second year in 2013.    ??Sheedy, the driving force behind the tribute to men and women of construction said it was fitting to have a regular fixture in the Toyota AFL Premiership season that paid tribute to the workers of Australia.

“As you fly in and out of every city across Australia you get an appreciation of the contribution the hard working men and women of construction make to our country,” Sheedy said.

“From our airports to the iconic buildings across the length of this great country, construction works make a fantastic contribution to Australia and this game is a chance to pay tribute to the work they do every day.”

Cbus CEO David Atkin said the game is an acknowledgement to Cbus members who work hard every day to build vital infrastructure for our community.

“It’s important to acknowledge the contribution our members and their employers make to the infrastructure our community use day in day out.

“Our members work hard, they are the everyday heroes whose contribution deserves recognition,” Mr Atkin said.

Cbus members will form a guard of honour at Star Track Oval Canberra and welcome the GWS Giants onto the ground on game day; and one player will be awarded the Mavis Robertson Team Spirit Award for his display of team spirit.
