GIANTS forward and former number one draft pick Jon Patton will make his return to the AFL against Essendon at Spotless Stadium on Sunday.
Coach Leon Cameron announced Patton’s inclusion to the playing group before training at Spotless Stadium on Thursday morning.
Patton has been sidelined since August last year after his second reconstruction on his right knee in three years.
Almost 12 months later, Patton will be named in the GIANTS side to take on the Bombers this Sunday in Sydney.
Patton was cleared to return to full training in late April and has played four games for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL since returning to the field last month.
Patton kicked 16 goals in his four matches including a seven-goal haul against the Gold Coast reserves.
The GIANTS’ full 25-man squad will be named on gwsgiants.com.au tonight with the final team to be named at 5pm on Friday.
The GIANTS take on Essendon on Sunday, August 9 at 3.20pm at Spotless Stadium as part of the 2015 Toyota AFL Multicultural Round. Tickets start from $24 for an adult and $48 for a family of two adults and two kids with children under 15 free.
