Summary: It was a season to forget for Liam Sumner who only managed to play five NEAFL matches after being diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture during pre-season. Sumner made a return in June but then experienced more foot soreness which saw him finish the year prematurely and head in for surgery. In addition he also broke his wrist in a training incident to further add to his injury woes. Sumner played predominantly as a small forward but was limited with his fitness missing so much of the season.
Pat On The Back: Always one to look at the positive side of things, Sumner was resilient and upbeat despite suffering so many set-backs in 2015.
What They Said: “He (Sumner) couldn’t catch a break this season so he’s definitely due for some good luck.” - NEAFL Coach Brett Hand.
Look Ahead: The biggest goal for Sumner next season will be to string together some games and remain injury free so he can demonstrate why he was selected as a first round pick in 2011.
