Young defender Nick Haynes will face a fitness test ahead of the GIANTS’ clash with Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday.

Haynes, who has been a standout performer in the GIANTS' back-six this season, missed the club's round 10 win over Brisbane due to a groin injury.

The 23-year-old has played 36 games for the GIANTS since being selected with pick seven in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

Fellow defender Lachie Plowman is progressing well from his elbow injury and is expected to return within the next fortnight.

Meanwhile forward Adam Tomlinson continues his recovery from toe surgery in April.

Several familiar faces including Rhys Palmer, Liam Sumner and Jacob Townsend successfully returned from injury for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL on Sunday.

The trio made it through their first match back and will continue to push for senior selection in the coming weeks.

Key forward Jon Patton and defender Tim Mohr continue their recovery from knee injuries.
