Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.

Name: Rhys Palmer
Number: 7
2015 Games: 14 AFL
AFL Fantasy Average: 70
Awards: Nil

Background: Rhys Palmer was selected with pick seven in the 2007 AFL Draft. He joined the GIANTS at the end of the 2011 season.

Best Game: Round 20 v Port Adelaide - 16 touches, 5 goals, 6 marks and 2 tackles.

Summary: Now established as a permanent small forward, Palmer continues to be dangerous around goals for the GIANTS. The former Rising Star winner kicked 18 goals this season, backing up his 23-goal effort in 2014. He is also a sacrificial player who had a career-high amount of goal assists (13). Palmer ticked over 100 career games this season, but injured his shoulder in the milestone match. After missing about two months of senior football, Palmer returned in Round 12, kicking three goals in his comeback game. He also signed a contract extension that will see him remain a GIANT until at least the end of 2017.

Pat On The Back: Going down with a shoulder injury in Round 4 promised to derail Palmer’s season but he responded well, playing good football in the NEAFL before earning a senior promotion.

What They Said: “The club is in terrific shape, with a lot of good people involved and I'm looking forward to the future here and seeing how far we can go” - Rhys Palmer.

Look Ahead: Entering his third season as a small forward, the former midfielder is constantly learning and improving his craft around goals. Cracking the 30-goal mark next year would take his game and contribution to another level. He’s more than capable.
