Name: Phil Davis
Number: 1
2015 Games: 12 AFL
AFL Fantasy Average: 48
Awards: Nil

Background: Phil Davis was selected by Adelaide with pick 10 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft. Davis joined the GIANTS following the 2011 season and was named one of the club’s inaugural captains.

Best Game: Round 4 v Gold Coast - 20 touches, 7 marks, 10 one-percenters and 6 rebound-50s.

Summary: Although there were some very promising signs from the GIANTS’ co-captain at times, unfortunately injury once again prevented Phil Davis from having a consistent season. Davis played 12 games and was invaluable as a leader in the backline but ankle and hamstring injuries cut his season short. A general in defence, Davis would often man the opposition’s best forward while still being capable of running back into packs to help out his younger, less experienced teammates. Davis averaged a career-high amount of one-percenters this season (8 per game) which includes shepherds, spoils, smothers and chases. Davis also re-committed to the GIANTS, signing a contract extension that will see him remain at the club until at least the end of 2018.

Pat On The Back: Despite suffering a few injuries this season, Davis remained positive and is always a vocal leader both on and off the field.

What They Said: “One of the main reasons I decided to extend was that this is the place where I think I'm the best chance to win a premiership and I'm excited about where we're going.” - Phil Davis

Look Ahead: Davis has been diligently completing his rehab and is on track to be fit and firing in 2016. When he’s on the park, Davis is widely respected as one of the club’s most important players.
