Liam Sumner only played two games for the GIANTS in 2012, but after a strong pre-season, the 19-year-old looks like playing a key role in the GIANTS forward line.

With key forwards Jonathon Patton and Jeremy Cameron set to draw plenty of attention, Sumner’s pace will be a huge asset as he works alongside the key forwards to crumb the packs and lock the ball in the GIANTS attacking zone.

What the coaches had to say:

James McDonald, Midfield Coach
“Liam’s had a great pre-season, he’s in good physical condition and has pretty much had an uninterrupted summer.”

He’ll play the role of a small forward – He covers big distances in games, he puts good pressure on the oppositions and we’re looking forward to him kicking his share of goals.”

What Sumner had to say:
"During 2013 I want to be aiming to play 10-15 games and even more if I get the chance.

"An area I need to improve on is my ability to contest against bigger bodies; hit harder, tackle better and get front and square so I can get some more shots on goal."
