The GIANTS will go into their home Preliminary Final on Saturday week with just three players on their injury list.
Despite the AFL and NEAFL sides’ bruising encounters with the Sydney Swans, the GIANTS came out of the weekend’s matches unscathed.
Midfielder Matthew Kennedy, who missed the entire second half of the WSU GIANTS’ NEAFL Grand Final win over the Swans Reserves on Sunday due to a foot complaint, has been cleared of any damage and will be available for AFL selection.
Paul Ahern has successfully undergone knee surgery after he re-ruptured his ACL at training last Wednesday.
The 20-year-old underwent surgery in Melbourne on Tuesday and will begin his rehabilitation in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Jack Steele successfully underwent surgery to insert a pin into his left foot last Thursday.
The midfielder broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot during training last week, forcing him to miss the WSU GIANTS’ maiden NEAFL Premiership.
Forward Steve Johnson will also be unavailable for the Preliminary Final having accepted a one-week sanction from the Match Review Panel.
