It may not open till May 26 but already the first goal has been kicked at the new home of the GIANTS, Skoda Stadium.
In just 10 days from now, the GIANTS will meet Essendon at SKODA Stadium and young guns Jon Patton and Jeremy Cameron are already getting in some target practice.
In an historic moment, the GIANTS key forwards assembled the goal posts through which they hope to kick a mountain of goals once the GIANTS begin their life at the new stadium.
Number one draft pick Patton said he was impressed with the stadium and could not wait to play his first game there.
“It was my first chance to have a look at the new stadium and to get the chance to check out the change rooms got me pretty excited. Then to go out onto the ground and have Jeremy and I, who are both key forwards, to help in putting the goal posts up was unreal as well,” said Patton.
Patton and Cameron also had the opportunity to test out the ground, with Patton having the opportunity to kick the first goal on SKODA Stadium.
“Jeremy let me take the honors at kicking the first goal and I am lucky I could put it through,” Patton said.
Patton wasted little time in finding his accuracy at SKODA kicking goals with each attempt.
“Hopefully I can keep that going, I don’t want to jinx myself though, I don’t want to take too many shots there before a game,” said Patton.
