The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have been bouncing and flipping their way through pre-season training with the help of a gymnastics coach from the NSW Institute of Sport.

With less than two weeks to go until the GIANTS 2013 NAB Cup campaign kicks off, the players are working hard to improve their fitness and skills on and off the field at their new base in Sydney Olympic Park.

Head Physiotherapist Leroy Lobo spoke exclusively to GIANTS TV and said that the club hoped the gymnastics training would help injured players with their range of movement on the football field.

“We’ve recruited a movement coach from the NSW Institute of Sport,” Lobo said.

“He’s working closely with a few of our players including Jeremy Cameron and Jonathon Patton on landing safely, landing technique and teaching the players how to move a different way on the field.

“One of the things that we’re trying to do is minimize the risk of re-injury. There are a few guys today who have had significant injuries to shoulders and hips.”
