Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has joined Federal Minister for Sport Senator Kate Lundy at Etihad Stadium to promote the Building Australia Tribute Match on July 6 against the Western Bulldogs.

The GIANTS will this weekend play Essendon, the club Sheedy coached to four premierships over 27 years.

Earlier, Sheedy took the GIANTS through their final training session of the week at a ground he’s very familiar with -  Windy Hill.

Sheedy then joined Cbus workers at Etihad Stadium who’d been involved in the construction of the stadium and says the Building Australia Tribute Match at StarTrack Oval Canberra will be a great opportunity to recognise the men and women who’d helped build our country.

“This is a thank you to the great people who’ve built this country,” said Sheedy.

“They build the homes where people live and if you look at any nation in the world, I think we’re still the lucky nation.”

Senator Kate Lundy, a former worker in the building and construction industry, says the match is a fitting tribute to hundreds of thousands of hard working Australians.

“GWS, and Cbus have been able to come together to highlight the contribution of the building and construction workers in building the nation's infrastructure for which stadia are a key part,” said Senator Lundy.
