GIANTS vice-captain Stephen Coniglio will continue as the club’s Australia Post Multicultural Ambassador for 2017.
It is the 23-year-old’s fourth consecutive season in the role that sees him work with the New South Wales Multicultural Talent Academy.
Coniglio is of Italian heritage with his Italian father and English mother migrating to Australia in the 1960’s.
The midfielder is passionate about his background and has shared his experiences, and traditions with the local community and his teammates.
In his role as Multicultural Ambassador the midfielder will help mentor young footballers in the culturally diverse landscape of Western Sydney.
Around three quarters of the residents living around the WestConnex Centre in Sydney Olympic Park were born overseas, while the neighbouring city of Parramatta is a rich multicultural hub with 70 per cent of the population born overseas.
Coniglio recently took part in an announcement with the NSW Government that the GIANTS game will be the centerpiece of Multicultural Round for the next four years. The 2017 Toyota AFL Multicultural Round will see the GIANTS host Fremantle at Spotless Stadium on Saturday, July 19.
