Adam Tomlinson is taking part in Movember, not that you’d know it by looking at him.
“Everyone who knows me knows that I shave once every couple of months so my mo has been a bit of joke,” he said.
While Tomlinson can laugh off the jibes about the lack of noticeable growth on his upper lip, his motivation for taking part in Movember is no laughing matter.
The GIANTS defender wanted to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health issues after the passing of a family member earlier this year.
“For me Movember was about showing my support for my family in what was a difficult year for everyone involved,” he said.
“This was the perfect way to support something very serious but to do it in a fashion that is enjoyable and humorous.
“We also saw Tom Downie go through tough times and have to walk away from footy which really touched me and motivated me even more to take part.
“Mental health is a big part of our game as well as off the field, so it was the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about it.”
Movemeber isn’t just about growing a moustache either with Tomlinson hitting the running track.
“I’ve also been doing Movember Move where I have to walk or run at least six kilometres a day to show my support that on average there are six men committing suicide daily,” he said.
“It’s been great fun and with nine days left I’ve raised $2157 with a goal of $4000 so it’s getting pretty tight but fingers crossed I can get across the line.”
