10 AFL listed GIANTS have pushed their case for
Despite strong displays from Jacob Hopper, Tim Mohr, Dawson Simpson and draftee Aiden Bonar, the GIANTS were beaten 11.4 (70) to 8.10 (58).
It was GIANTS’ NEAFL coach Adam Schneider’s second game in charge since joining the club in November last year and he said there were a number of GIANTS who impressed:
Jacob Hopper
“It was his first game of the season but he absolutely dominated the inside contest all day. Jacob was on limited game time so only played three quarters but was really impressive.”
Aiden Bonar
“He was a beast in winning the inside ball alongside Jacob Hopper. He was also on limited game time but in the time he did have on the field he had a great impact. There are some very exciting times ahead with Aiden.”
Dawson Simpson
“Dawson was barely beaten all day in the ruck. He gave Aiden Bonar and Jacob Hopper first use of the football and as skipper he was very good, leading from the front.”
Matthew Flynn
“Matt worked well in
Isaac Cumming
“Like Hopper, it was his first game of the year, so he had to work his way into the game. Once he did, he provided some great dashing runs off half-back in the second half.”
Tim Mohr
“Tim was one of the best two on
Lachlan Keefe
“Worked very hard and played well down back before he copped a hit to the eye and as a precaution finished the game early.”
Jake Stein
“He showed a great work rate in helping out his teammates down back. A positive start to his second season at the club.”
Sam Taylor
“Sam showed he’s got a very smart football brain that reads the play very well. He’s very tough at the contest and was impressive in his first hit out for the year.”
The GIANTS will play the Swans Reserves in their final NEAFL practice match at Tom Wills Oval on Saturday, March 31 at 12:00noon before their 2018 NEAFL Premiership Season gets underway on Saturday, April 7 against the Swans Reserves at the SCG.
