Star midfielder Tim Taranto has extended his contract with the GIANTS through to the end of 2022.
The 21-year-old was signed until the end of 2020 but has added another two years to his contract as a GIANT.
Taranto has had a stellar third season in the competition, with 31 touches against the Power on Saturday night his third game in a row over 30 disposals and the 10th time this season.
Averaging 28.3 disposals and 6.7 tackles a game, he is fourth in the league for tackles and ranked elite in the competition for kicks, tackles, tackles inside 50 and pressure acts.
Taranto said he’s loving being a GIANT.
“I love this football club, I love the people in this football club, I love Sydney,” he said.
“I’m just loving life at the moment and didn’t want that to change so I thought I may as well re-sign.
“I want to repay the club as well, they’ve shown a lot of faith in me. I’m looking forward to finishing the season off strongly."
GIANTS List Manager Jason McCartney said extending Taranto’s tenure is another exciting signing for the club.
“Tim is fast becoming an elite midfielder in the competition and we’re thrilled to add another two years to his contract,” McCartney said.
“What he’s achieved in his first three years in the competition is simply outstanding and he puts in a lot of hard work on and off the field.
“A fantastic person, Tim is an emerging young leader of our club and we’re excited about what the future holds for him.”
Taranto’s signing comes hot on the heels of contract extensions for Sam Reid, Sam Taylor and Connor Idun in the recent weeks along with Josh Kelly, Jacob Hopper, Nick Haynes, Adam Kennedy, Harry Himmelberg, Brent Daniels and Matt de Boer earlier in the season.
The GIANTS take on the Swans in Sydney Derby XVIII on Saturday at 2:10pm at GIANTS Stadium.
