Greene Accepts Sanctions
The GIANTS have held further discussions with Toby Greene's management to clarify our position on the sanctions imposed on him by the player leadership group.
All parties agree on Greene's five match suspension and $5000 fine for drinking alcohol while he was injured and failing to properly notify the club of an incident in Melbourne last Monday night.
Greene will not be eligible for senior selection for the GIANTS' next five matches. He will also be ineligible for selection for the UWS GIANTS reserves in the NEAFL during this period.
Greene said he accepted the sanctions and expressed his regret for breaching club protocols.
"I fronted my teammates on Friday and told them I was sorry for letting them and the club down," he said.
"I failed to meet the standards required of the playing group and fully accept the sanctions handed down by the player leadership group.
"I am determined to work hard to regain not only my spot in the team but also the respect of my teammates."
The Club and his management will work with Greene to provide him with appropriate support and have no further comment.
