The GIANTS have further strengthened their hand at next week’s NAB AFL Draft by securing pick four in a trade with the Adelaide Crows.
The GIANTS completed a trade that sees pick six and a future first round selection head to Adelaide.
List Manager Jason McCartney said moving from pick six – which was received from St Kilda as part of a trade during the 2019 Telstra Trade period – to pick four, gives the GIANTS more flexibility.
“During the initial trade period we had a number of discussions with clubs higher up the draft order canvassing opportunities and we’re very satisfied to be able to achieve this outcome today,” he said.
“Moving up to pick four gives us plenty of options as we head into next week’s draft.
“It gives us the opportunity to pick up a high-quality player but it also puts us in a strong position when it comes to our considerations around potential academy bids.”
Clubs can continue to trade draft picks until November 22.
The GIANTS now hold picks 4, 40, 59, 60, 80 and 94 at the 2019 NAB AFL Draft which will be held in Melbourne on November 27 and 28 at Marvel Stadium.
