Shane Mumford has been charged with striking Sydney’s George Hewett in last Friday’s practice match at Blacktown International Sportspark.
Based on the available video evidence, the incident has been assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head.
The 32-year-old can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
The practice match was Mumford’s first game back in GIANTS colours after re-joining the playing list over summer.
The burly ruckman is already set to miss the first two rounds of the Toyota AFL Premiership season due to a club-imposed sanction.
Any suspension imposed during the pre-season would be on top of the existing club imposed sanction.
Mumford and the GIANTS have until Tuesday lunchtime to accept the ban or contest it at the tribunal.
