GIANTS midfielder Tom Green will be sidelined for the start of the club’s 2025 season with a calf injury.
The 24-year-old was involved in Friday’s match simulation but played just one quarter before reporting calf soreness.
Following the session, Green was sent for a scan, with the results determining the extent of the calf strain.
Green is expected to be sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks and will therefore will miss the start of the GIANTS’ 2025 campaign.
Ryan Angwin (ankle), Josh Fahey (foot) and Callum Brown (hamstring) have also been dealt injury setbacks ahead of the start of the season.
Key defender Sam Taylor won’t participate in Friday’s match simulation against the Swans, after entering concussion protocols following a collision at training last Friday.
He will continue to be closely monitored until he is deemed fit to return to training.
Vice-captain Stephen Coniglio will also miss Friday’s match simulation, as he continues his rehab from his off-season surgeries.
He has returned to full contact training and is hoping to be available for next week’s AAMI Community Series match against Carlton at Manuka Oval.
