The re-signing of gun midfielder Marc Sheather and skipper Ryan Hebron headline the GIANTS’ VFL squad for season 2025.

Previously on the Swans’ AFL list, Sheather joined the GIANTS last season after three years on the Swans’ AFL list where he managed three AFL appearances in 2023 after overcoming numerous injury setbacks.

A tough utility capable of playing across all three lines, Sheather was elevated to the Swans’ AFL list via the 2021 Rookie Draft as a category B rookie but struggled with injury setbacks in his time in red and white.

Returning to full fitness last year, Sheather starred for the GIANTS’ VFL side last year as a ferocious inside midfielder and will look to do so once again in 2025 after re-signing for another year.

Meanwhile, Hebron will lead the way for the club’s VFL side for a fourth successive season after the inspirational skipper also inked a new deal for 2025.

One of the side’s heart and soul players, Hebron has established himself as a key piece of the GIANTS’ VFL program since joining the club ahead of the 2022 season.

Following stints with Werribee and the Swans’ VFL side among others, Hebron was named the GIANTS’ inaugural VFL captain ahead of the 2022 season before even playing a game in the orange and charcoal.

Bringing up his 50th game in GIANTS colours last year, the tough and courageous defender will lead a GIANTS side full of local talent.

Two other notable signings for the 2025 season are newcomers Perry Lewis-Smith and James Lugsdin.

Joining the club after previously spending time in the VFL with Casey, Frankston, the Northern Bullants, and Port Melbourne, Lewis-Smith will don the orange and charcoal in 2025 after a dominant 2024 season from the powerful midfielder playing for Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray Football League.

Meanwhile Lugsdin, a former Swans Academy product, joins the GIANTS from the crosstown rivals after spending the 2024 season with the Swans’ VFL side.

Other newcomers to the GIANTS’ VFL side for season 2025 are Mitch Szybkowski, Mackenzie Allen, Hugo Birks, Sam McMeeken, and Hunter Pickett.

Meanwhile Harper Montgomery, Tom McCaffrey, Matt Harms, Will Shaw, Billy McGee Galimberti, Izaac Hughes, Taine Moraschi, and GIANTS Academy member Riley Hamilton have all re-signed and will return in 2025.

The GIANTS will also soon announce several signings from the club’s new VFL hub in Albury.

The GIANTS’ VFL side will get its first real action of 2025 when it takes on the Swans’ VFL side at Tramway Oval on Friday following an official practice match between the club’s AFL sides.
