The GIANTS are delighted to announce that former captain Alicia Eva has signed a new one-year deal to remain with the club until at least the end of the 2025 AFLW season.

A GIANTS Life Member and one of the most influential figures in the history of the club’s AFLW side, Eva captained the GIANTS for five seasons before stepping down from the role at the end of last year.

Firmly established as one of the league’s most admired players, Eva’s new one-year deal comes as the 33-year-old prepares to celebrate a special milestone this weekend, with Eva bringing up her 75th AFLW game in Sunday’s clash with the Power.

Eva will become the club’s first AFLW player to reach the milestone.

Originally joining the club in 2018 following a season with Collingwood, Eva was named vice-captain in her very first year at the club in a season where she was later crowned the Gabrielle Trainor Medallist as club champion as well as named in the All-Australian team.

One of the competition’s hardest working players, Eva has flourished in a new role as a forward this season, with the crafty veteran using her skills and footy smarts to full effect ahead of the footy as she guides and supports the club’s exciting young crop of emerging forward talent.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of AFLW and Football Operations, Alison Zell, is thrilled to have Eva extend for another season.

“Alicia embodies what it means to be a GIANT and it’s fantastic to announce her re-signing during a week where we celebrate her 75-game milestone,” Zell said.

“She continues to set such a tremendous example both on and off the field for our young side and her knowledge of the game and her experience are hugely important to the continued development of our group.

“On top of the profound impact that she has on her teammates and the culture she’s helped create, Alicia is playing some great footy for us this year and we’re excited to see her carry that over into what will be her 10th AFLW season next year.”

Eva will celebrate her 75th AFLW game on Sunday when the GIANTS take on the Power at Alberton Oval in the final round of the season.
