The GIANTS are excited to secure the signature of emerging talent Conor Stone.
The in-demand utility has signed a second contract extension with the club which will see him remain in the orange and charcoal through until at least the end of 2026.
A former first-round draft pick, Stone is a strong and powerful utility that has played an array of roles in his 13 AFL games to date, proving his versatility and value to the GIANTS’ list.
Plagued with injuries in his first three seasons, the 22-year-old’s body allowed him to showcase his full potential this year where he had a starring campaign in the club’s VFL side, averaging 20 disposals and 5.5 marks per game to take out the club’s VFL Player of the Year award.
Showcasing his versatility, Stone started the VFL season as forward, kicking 16 goals from his first seven games, before he flourished as an intercept defender in the second half of the season of which eventually earnt him an AFL call up.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney said he was thrilled to secure the signature of Stone.
“We’re stoked to have extended Conor’s contract for another two years; he’s a remarkably diligent footballer and someone we’re confident can make a significant contribution on our list,” McCartney said.
“We believe there is great opportunity for Conor to break through and play an important role footy in our senior side next year.
“We have full confidence in Conor’s abilities and are excited to see how he continues to grow and contribute to the success of our football club.”
