GIANTS veteran Nicola Barr will miss the remainder of the 2024 NAB AFLW season.
The inaugural GIANT suffered a hamstring injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s draw with the Suns, with scans on Monday revealing the extent of the injury.
Barr has consulted with a specialist and will undergo surgery early next week which will sideline her for the rest of the season.
Cambridge McCormick has also been dealt a setback, with the in-form defender suffering a syndesmosis injury after falling awkwardly in a tackle in the second quarter of the round three match in Canberra.
McCormick underwent surgery on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks.
Canberran Emily Pease didn’t finish Sunday’s game, with an ankle injury ruling her out for the second half of the match.
The 22-year-old will need to get through Thursday’s main training to prove her fitness but is a chance to take on the Swans on Sunday.
Key defender Izzy Huntington was a late out for Sunday’s game with the Suns due to knee soreness.
She will be monitored by the medical team this week and will need to get through training this week to prove her availability.
Meanwhile, Brodee Mowbray got through Sunday’s scrimmage in her return from an ACL injury and will be available for selection this week.
